There are already plenty of people who live in primitive villages with no electricity or any of the modern conveniences we’re so accustomed to. They will be oblivious to the effects of an EMP, an economic collapse, etc. I just watched a video on YouTube showing a homeless encampment in Sacramento that appeared to be situated next to the Sacramento River which provided these people with water for them to bathe in as well as to water their chickens which were quite healthy and ubiquitous.
Those who are used to consuming prepackaged, and prepared meals which they can plop into a microwave and consume a few minutes later are probably going to die from poisoning as they burn off the layers of fat that are packed with nitrates, nitrites and other toxic crap. A healthy person eating healthy organic raw fruits and vegetables can fast for close to a month and recover, but anyone who has been eating packaged crap in stores is going to be dead within a week to ten days.

uncharted territory. There will be surviving power systems at local levels. Lack of mechanized farming will be the real killer. Lack of refrigeration will severely limit food storage and choices. Everything local grown until rail service is restored. Anyone surviving on EBT cards will be first to go. Anyone living in urban or crowded suburbs does not stand a chance in grid down. The oil wells will still be there. With 10% living those resources will not be strained so much.
